Community Midwives

The Community Midwives are responsible for antenatal and postnatal care. They run antenatal clinics held locally at the Leigh Park Children's Centre, Gordon Road,  Wimborne and also make home visits. When you are confirmed as being pregnant you will need to make the initial contact via a self-referral system by contacting the Community Midwifery Service on (01202) 442310.  For further information about their services contact the Poole Hospital Maternity Unit on  (01202) 442515.

Community Nurses

Our enthusiastic  District Nurses are experts in the nursing care of housebound patients. The team is attached to the Medical Centre and work closely with all the staff based there. They respond to referrals from G.P.’s hospital staff and other health care professionals. They will also respond to referrals from housebound patients who have an identified nursing need and their carers. The District Nursing team can also access many other health, social and voluntary services in the community and can help signpost patients to the most appropriate care that is available for their individual needs. The District Nurses can be contacted between 8.00am - 5.00pm 01202 884559.

Health Visitors

They are involved with the health care of expectant mothers & children under 5, as well as Child Protection. They run baby clinics and an under one’s group. Their role involves undertaking children’s regular development checks and assessment and advice for minor illnesses.
