Community Midwives

The Community Midwives are responsible for antenatal and postnatal care. They work in conjunction with the doctors at the antenatal clinics held in the surgery and also make home visits. Contact can be made via the surgery.

Community Nurses

Sister Amanda Hindess (f)
Our enthusiastic registered nursing team led by a District Nurse are experts in the nursing care of housebound people. The team is attached to the Medical Centre and work closely with all the staff based there. They respond to referrals from G.P.’s hospital staff and other health care professionals. They will also respond to referrals from housebound patients who have an identified nursing need and their carers. The District Nursing team can also access many other health, social and voluntary services in the community and can help signpost patients to the most appropriate care that is available for their individual needs.

Health Visitors

A supportive Health Visiting team is attached to the surgery. They are involved with the health care of all patient groups but especially expectant mothers, young families, the elderly and the disabled. They also run baby clinics and an under one’s group. Their role also involves undertaking children’s regular development checks including assessment and advice for minor illnesses. The Health Visitors also coordinate our Carers Group and the Friends of the Practice.
